Hands to Help Seniors is led by a Board of Governors with all of the powers of governing and directing, and of overseeing the management and affairs of the organization. The corporate governance principles of the Hands to Help Seniors are composed of a series of documents adopted by the Board of Governors and reviewed periodically to ensure they continue to meet the needs of the organization and reflect current industry best practices.
Leadership
The Board of Governors and Executive Director are significant leaders of Hands to Help Seniors. The Executive Director executes Hands to Help Seniors strategies and leads the operations and business activities of Hands to Help Seniors, while the Board of Governors gives guidance and direction.
BOARD OF GOVERNORS:
Richard J. Kuehn was appointed, by the Board of Governors to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer in May of 2011. He is the owner of Family inHome Caregiving, Inc.; he is on the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Advisory Council– and serves as Chairperson and represents District 5; and, he is on the In Home Support Services (IHSS) Advisory Committee – and serves as Vice Chairperson.
Jeannette K. Witten, Esq., was appointed by the Board of Governors, as Chief Financial Officer in May of 2011. She is an attorney and principal at Hudson, Martin, Ferrante, Street, Witten & June.
Mary Allred was appointed, by the Board of Governors, to the position of secretary to the Board of Governors in June of 2012. She is the owner of Alliance Home Health.
Lindsay Hoover was appointed by the Board of Governors to the position of Marketing Officer to the Board of Governors in May of 2013.
Suzanne Komarek, ALF, CLPF, was appointed by the Board of Governors, to the position of Treasurer, in December of 2014. She is a professional fiduciary at Sandys + Company, Inc.
Governing Documents
In 2011, the Hands to Help Seniors Board of Governors reviewed and approved the governing documents that guide Hands to Help Seniors in order to fulfill its mission and values by amending and executing the revised Bylaws and Policies. Changes were approved and signed by all members of the Board of Governors. These new governing documents assist the focus on strategic oversight and governance.
Requirements for membership are now uniform and follow best practices for corporate boards. The selection of members is accomplished through the Governance and Board Development Committee's recommendation to the full Board, with final approval by The Board.
